The Open Society Club – Blagoevgrad shares the goals and the mission of all “Open Society” organizations in Bulgaria: To uphold the values of the open society in Bulgaria, to support democratization in all fields of public and political life, to support civil society structures, to work for the extension and guaranteeing of civil freedoms and the respect for fundamental human rights, for improving strategic approaches to the integration of vulnerable groups and minorities. Building on Carl Popper's views that "open societies do not support a single view of ‘truth’", the organization supports research and applied projects aimed at unfolding a public debate on key issues for Bulgaria.
The Balkan Society for Autobiography and Social Communication has won a number of projects under the Open Society Foundation's Programs "New Publicity", "Upgrading of Higher Education", "Civil Society and Democratic Institutions" and others.
